Camera shots and film analysis.

I have used the film The Dark Knight Rises with the joker scene (MOB meeting). The first camera shot used in the beginning of the scene is over the shoulder, they used this shot because it allows the audience to see the people who are in the scene and they're looking at the person who is arriving (The Joker). It also allows the audience to look at the people in the scene's facial expressions because the audience don't know who it is however the facial expressions used in this scene is like they've seen something unusual and weird which is the Joker. The joker comes in by laughing which grabs everyone's attention, but when he walks in and settles down, the black man is waiting to talk 'business' with him and they want the joker to take someone down. they expect something with fighting involved but The Joker just starts off with a magic trick by putting a pencil in someones eye as they walk towards him. this is used really well because it shows how calm and less serious he is the situation but how dangerous he can be. The scene is a slow pace with him talking calm but the pencil trick happens in a fast pace which gives the audience shock value.

The joker begins by talking about batman and starts talking about why the people in the scene have group sessions in broad daylight, this shows the audience and characters in the scene how clever and experienced the joker really is. This makes the audience want to carry on watching the movie.

Camera shot: Over the shoulder.

The effect with this camera shot is to establish the position of each person, and get the feeling of looking at the people sitting down from another persons view.

Camera shot: Close up.

The effect with this shot is to allow the audience to see the emotion the person is in and to feel the tension which gives antisiptation to the audience.
